"Harvesting H2O: How Atmospheric Water Generators Turn Air into Pure Drinking Water!"

Hi there, water lovers! Do you know that you can get fresh and pure water from the air around you? Yes, you heard me right. There is a device that can do this amazing feat. It is called an **atmospheric water generator (AWG)**. In this post, I will explain what an AWG is, how it works, and what are the benefits of using one. Let's dive in!

What is an AWG?

An AWG is a device that extracts water from humid ambient air, producing potable water. Water vapor in the air can be extracted either by condensation - cooling the air below its dew point, exposing the air to desiccants, using membranes that only pass water vapor, collecting fog, or pressurizing the air . AWGs are useful where potable water is difficult to obtain, because water is always present in ambient air. AWG may require significant energy inputs, or operate passively, relying on natural temperature differences.

How does an AWG work?

There are different types of AWGs, but the most common one is based on cooling condensation. This type of AWG uses a compressor to circulate refrigerant through a condenser and then an evaporator coil that cools the surrounding air. Once the air temperature reaches its dew point, water condenses into the collector. A fan pushes filtered air over the coil. A purification/filtration system keeps the water pure and reduces the risk posed by ambient microorganisms . The rate of water production depends on the ambient temperature, humidity, the volume of air passing over the coil, and the machine's capacity to cool the coil. AWGs become more effective as relative humidity and air temperature increase. As a rule of thumb, cooling condensation AWGs do not work efficiently when the ambient temperature falls below 18.3 °C (65 °F) or the relative humidity drops below 30% .

What are the benefits of using an AWG?

Using an AWG has many advantages over other sources of water. Here are some of them:

- It provides clean and safe drinking water that meets WHO standards .

- It reduces dependence on bottled water or water delivery services, saving money and reducing plastic waste.

- It can operate in remote areas where there is no access to piped water or groundwater.

- It can supplement existing water sources during shortages, contamination events, or disasters.

- It can help combat water scarcity and climate change by utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power.

Where can I get an AWG?

There are many manufacturers and suppliers of AWGs in India and around the world. You can find them online or in local stores. Some of them are:

- Hybrid Solutions: They offer a range of AWGs from 30 L/day to 5000 L/day capacity .

- Greenfieldxp Technologies: They offer a high-end AWG with 4500 L/day capacity .

- Airowater: They offer a variety of AWGs for home and commercial use .
