Etched into remote, mountainous landscapes with sheer cliffs and steep descents, these roads present narrow passages barely accommodating a single vehicle. They test both drivers and vehicles amidst thin air, drastic temperatures, and the looming risk of altitude sickness. Guoliang Tunnel Road In China
Chiselled into the mountain by local villagers, this road showcases narrow pathways, sharp bends, and steep precipices, offering a formidable challenge for drivers. Located in Henan province in China, it is currently ranked as the ninth-largest man-dug tunnel through steep, rugged cliffs. Thirteen local villagers built it without electrical power or machinery. Their main tools were hammers, steel bars, and explosives.
Trans-Siberian Highway In Russia
We were amazed by an Instagram reel showcasing the ford—wow, it's incredible. Extending approximately 11,000 kilometres (6,835 miles) throughout Russia, this highway crosses varied landscapes, from icy tundra and dense forests to mountainous areas, posing challenges like severe weather and long distances between amenities.
